Our XSR sleds were born out of a desire for a fun, affordable, light
weight snow vehicle that can be enjoyed by all. Full sized dual ski
snowmobiles have their place and always will and we love them for that.
But there is another way.
The XSR is the dream of our designer, Jim Wade. His dream of a small
light weight snow vehicle, based on 20+ years of aerospace and racing
vehicle involvement, became a reality in 2003. Three years of research,
design, fabrication and testing have lead to several patent pending
designs and the vehicles we have today. The major innovative components
of the XSR have all been “light bulb-spring out of bed in the
morning” moments after looking at the various problems associated
with making the XSR a reality.
The other not so obvious aspects of the overall design concept borrow
from many disciplines and years of being involved in many sports. We
have technology from motorcycles, go-karts, bicycles, go-ped type scooters,
snowboarding, surfing and of course snowmobiles all married elegantly
onto the XSR.
Not being directly involved in the snowmobile industry has allowed our
designers to think “out of the box” and not be constrained
by the “that’s how it’s always been done” mentality.
That’s something we will always strive for- not allowing ourselves
to be trapped “in the box”.
In the winter of 2003 the XSR-85-S scooter model was first tested. It
was a success right off but required some fine tuning to turn it into
the easy-to-ride “just plain fun” vehicle it is now. This
is when the “FAST”, (patent pending), ski design was born.
2004 saw the XSR-85-C model come to life and was an immediate all-out
success, having borrowed lessons learned with the “S” model
There are more ideas, models and “out-of-the-box” concepts
in the works so expect more in the future.
